New York dental school gets nearly $735K to expand care for people with disabilities

The University at Buffalo (N.Y.) School of Dental Medicine has received nearly $735,000 to expand its treatment of people with disabilities, the school said Dec. 13.

The school received the grant from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation. The school said it will use the funds to provide more care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Western New York and boost the number of providers trained to provide this care.

The dental school will expand its partnership with Arc GLOW, a nonprofit dedicated to engaging people with disabilities. Dental students will provide care to nearly 2,000 people with disabilities at the nonprofit's locations using the university's mobile dental clinic.

The initiative is expected to begin early next year.
