Utah dentist found guilty of evading $1.8M in taxes

A Utah dentist on March 17 was found guilty of tax evasion, filing false tax returns and impeding the IRS.

Derald Wilford Geddes, DDS, was the owner and operator of Mount Ogden Dental. Between 1998 and 2014, Dr. Geddes evaded $1.8 million in owed federal income taxes and blocked the IRS' efforts to collect these taxes.

He faces a maximum of five years in prison for tax evasion and three years in prison for each count of filing a false tax return and impeding the IRS, according to a March 21 news release from the Justice Department.
