Dental legislation to know from 3 states

Three states recently introduced or advanced legislation affecting how dentistry is practiced, Medicaid benefits, funding programs and insurance coverage.

Three updates:

1. Maryland lawmakers approved a bill to add comprehensive dental benefits for adults with Medicaid, ABC affiliate WMDT reported April 6. The bill was sent with a veto-proof majority for Gov. Larry Hogan's signature.

2. The Illinois legislature passed a bill that would require insurers to cover all craniofacial surgeries for children up to age 19, wcia.com reported March 31. It is awaiting the signature of Gov. J.B. Pritzker.

3. The Minnesota House introduced a bill March 21 to establish a pilot program to fund dental services at community centers providing care to low-income residents in community settings in the state.
