Wisconsin dentist sentenced to 4 years in prison for intentionally damaging patients' teeth

A Wisconsin former dentist who was found guilty of intentionally breaking patients' teeth was sentenced to four and a half years in prison, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported July 15. 

Scott Charmoli, DDS, intentionally broke patients' teeth before installing crowns in order to get insurance coverage. His license was suspended in February 2021 pending an investigation by the Wisconsin Dentistry Examining Board. He surrendered his license July 6, according to board records.

In addition to his prison time, Mr. Charmoli was also ordered to serve three years of supervised release.
