Dentist salary in the worst states to find a job

West Virginia is the worst state to find a job, according to personal finance website WalletHub, and the average dentist salary there is $139,200, below the national average of $167,760, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

WalletHub compared states across their job market and economic environment with an increased weight on the former. The website then evaluated the two dimensions using 35 metrics, including job security, employee benefits and average commute time. The Bureau of Labor Statistics updated wage and salary data for several dental specialties March 31 to reflect 2021 information.

Here are the 10 worst states to find a job, according to WalletHub, and their respective average dentist salaries:

1. West Virginia: $139,200

2. Kentucky: $136,480

3. Mississippi: $161,700

4. Louisiana: $148,060

5. Arkansas: $184,540

6. Oklahoma: $165,380

7. Pennsylvania: $159,450

8. South Carolina: $132,830

9. Alabama: $176,910

10. Ohio: $180,920
