Pennsylvania dental office closed after boiler explosion

A dental practice in Sewickley, Pa., was closed after a boiler in the building exploded Dec. 14, the Sewickley Herald reported.

First responders were called in the morning after reports of an explosion and fire in the basement in the building. No injuries were reported. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation. 

A zoning officer deemed the building unsafe and posted notices on the property stating occupancy is prohibited until further notice.

The dental office is located on the first floor underneath apartments. The building is owned by John Paul Piccolo, DMD, but the practice is run by Mark Marshall, DMD. Dr. Marshall told the news organization he is unsure when the building will reopen.
