Dental practice sale to DSO leaves patient's care in limbo

A patient was recently left without treatment after the dental practice she visited underwent changes following its sale to a DSO, CBS affiliate Arizona’s Family reported April 13.

Marija Radulovic paid $6,000 to receive Invisalign treatment from Perfect Teeth in Scottsdale. She told the news station that patients began noticing changes after the practice was acquired by Orange, Calif.-based DSO Western Dental last year. The orthodontist at the practice left, and the office no longer provided Invisalign, leaving Ms. Radulovic without care for months.

The news organization contacted Western Dental about Ms. Radulovic's case and the DSO determined Ms. Radulovic deserved a refund for her treatment.

"Perfect Teeth is committed to providing quality dental care and customer service to our patients," Western Dental said in a statement to Arizona's Family. "After careful review, we have issued a full refund to Ms. Radulovic to her satisfaction and to the dental insurance provider."
