Patients fighting for dental records after Colorado dentist's arrest

Patients are struggling to get their dental records from a practice that recently closed after the owner dentist was arrested, NBC affiliate 9News reported April 20.

James Craig, DDS, was arrested in March and charged with first degree murder in the death of his wife. His practice, Summerbrook Dental Group in Aurora, Colo., has been permanently closed. Patients are now looking to get ahold of their dental records so they can continue treatment with other dentists but have been unable to get ahold of anyone from the practice.

Several patients spoke with the news station about their struggle, including one who previously paid the practice $40,000 for dental implants but was unable to receive them before Dr. Craig was arrested. She has been unable to get her money or records from the practice and was charged another $22,000 to receive implants at another practice.

Philip Bluestein, an attorney with Rocky Mountain Healthcare Law, told the news station that one option is to contact Dr. Craig's attorney. Patients can also file a complaint with the Colorado Dental Board.
