New York approves closure of health system dental clinic

Lake Placid, N.Y.-based Adirondack Health Dental Care received official approval from the state to close its dental clinic, the Adirondack Explorer reported July 31.

The health system originally hoped to close the clinic in May due to the clinic causing Adirondack Health to lose approximately $350,000 annually. However, the clinic continued to operate on a day-to-day basis because it had not received written approval from the New York Department of Health. It closed the clinic indefinitely after staff resignations in June.

Adirondack Health Dental Care had about 2,000 active patients.
