Former employee files lawsuit against dentist convicted of battery

A Florida dentist convicted of inappropriately touching employees and patients is being sued by a former employee, the Pensacola News Journal reported Aug. 24.

The former employee filed the lawsuit Aug. 10 against Stamitoles Dental Center; Charles Stamitoles, DDS; and his wife, who was the dental practice's office manager. The lawsuit seeks more than $100,000 in damages from Dr. Stamitoles for battery he committed while the employee was working at the practice.

Dr. Stamitoles was arrested several times in 2022 for allegedly inappropriately touching female patients and an employee. He was found guilty of misdemeanor battery for one case in October and sentenced to 270 days in jail in November 2022. In January, he was given four 60-day sentences for four other battery charges. The Florida Board of Dentistry revoked his license in March.
