Dentists' confidence in the economic recovery slips

Only 11.7 percent of dentists are "very confident" in the economic recovery of the general dental sector, according to a poll from the American Dental Association's Health Policy Institute.

The ADA's monthly "Economic Outlook and Emerging Issues in Dentistry" poll asks respondents to gauge their confidence in the economic recovery of the dental care sector.

Compared to the results of the July survey, the percentage of "very confident" dentists decreased more than 4 percent.

Here is how the respondents answered on their confidence in the recovery of the dental industry in July and August:

Very confident: 11.7 percent in August; 15.8 percent in July

Somewhat confident: 41 percent in August; 39.1 percent in July

Neither confident nor skeptical: 24.1 percent in August; 23.4 percent in July

Somewhat skeptical: 17.8 percent in August; 18.3 percent in July

Very skeptical: 5.4 percent in August; 3.4 percent in July
