Alaska dental clinic owner sentenced for bankruptcy fraud

A dental clinic owner in Kenai, Alaska, has been sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison for bankruptcy fraud.

Saray Lockwood and her husband filed for bankruptcy in April 2019. During the proceeding, Ms. Lockwood made false statements under penalty of perjury about a separate entity they owned, according to a Dec. 18 news release from the Justice Department.

From 2015 through at least 2019, Ms. Lockwood performed most of the deposits and withdrawals to two bank accounts in the name of Strategic Innovations, LLC.

In 2021, Ms. Lockwood and her husband lied about questions asked by the U.S. Trustee in connection to their bankruptcy.

Over a 10-year period, Ms. Lockwood evaded millions of dollars in tax payments and perpetuated the scheme with false statements in bankruptcy court.

Ms. Lockwood will also serve three years of supervised release, the release said.
