11 dentists who retired in 2023

Here are 11 dentists who announced their retirement that Becker's reported on in 2023:

1. Dale Hazelbaker, DDS, who opened his practice in Springfield, Ohio, in 1966, retired after 61 years in the industry.

2. Tom Jacobsen, DDS, retired after more than 50 years in the dental industry. He had practiced at Sitka (Alaska) Dental Clinic since 1977.

3. John Bruce, DDS, a dentist at Dunwoody (Ga.) Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, retired after 47 years in the dental industry.

4. Jim Armbruster, DMD, retired after practicing dentistry for 47 years. Dr. Armbruster sold his Sterling, Colo., practice to Trent Sayers, DDS.

5. Dennis McCaffrey, DDS, retired from his practice after 48 years of service in the dental industry. He opened his Cedar Hill, Mo.-based practice in 1975.

6. David Kurzinsky, DDS, retired after 42 years of service in the industry, practicing in Shenandoah, Pa., since 1981.

7. California dentist Douglas Grosmark, DMD, retired after 34 years in the industry.

8. Curt Cotton, DDS, of St. Joseph, Minn.-based Milbert, Johnson & Cotton Family Dentistry, retired after practicing for 47 years.

9. Wisconsin dentist James Fulmer, DDS, retired after nearly 40 years in dentistry.

10. Teresa Poorman-Maaske, DDS, retired from the Tooth Fairy Pediatric Dental Clinic in Kearney, Neb., after more than 33 years of practice.

11. Thomas Boreman, DDS, retired from Smithville Family Dentistry in Ohio after being in practice for 47 years.
