6 dentistry updates in Georgia

Two DSOs that added practices in Georgia and four other dental industry updates that Becker's has reported on since Dec. 8: 

1. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp proposed putting $178 million toward construction of a dental school at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.

2. Troy, Mich.-based Smile Partners USA added a Georgia dental practice to its network. 

3. John Bruce, DDS, a dentist at Dunwoody (Ga.) Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, retired after 47 years in the dental industry.

4. Georgia had a positive net migration of new dentists from 2019 to 2022, with a net migration rate of 8.6%, according to the American Dental Association. 

5. Teledentistry company SmileDirectClub agreed to dismiss its antitrust case against the Georgia Board of Dentistry.

6. Irving, Texas-based Specialized Dental Partners partnered with Geerlings Endodontics in Newman, Ga.
