Several dental practices shut down during the first quarter of 2024 due to financial challenges, restructuring opportunities and other reasons.
Here are six closures Becker's has reported on since Jan. 1:
1. Gentle Dental, a subsidiary of Inglewood, Calif.-based DSO InterDent, closed an office in Seattle March 29. A reason for the closure was not provided.
2. Woodbury (Minn.) Dental Arts, which abruptly closed in March, was forced to do so after the owner had his dental license suspended and ran out of money.
3. Madison (Va.) Family Dentistry closed temporarily after a fire damaged the office.
4. Varble Orthodontics closed its location in St. Charles, Mo., after opening an office in St. Peters, Mo.
5. The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center will close its Montefiore dental center March 21 and transition care to the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Susan Manko, a spokesperson for UPMC, said the closure will "ensure that we are meeting patient needs while not duplicating services."
6. Pacific Northwest Implant Studio and General Dentistry in Eugene, Ore., shut down unexpectedly in January. The landlord of the building posted a notice citing failure to pay as the reason for the abrupt closing.
