Here are 10 dentists who have been disciplined by state dental boards since February:

Illinois

The license of a dentist in Hoffman Estates, Ill., was placed on permanent inactive status for multiple violations in March.

Iowa

The Iowa Dental Board fined Jonathan Karch, DDS, after a patient died under his care.

The Iowa Dental Board ordered Terra Hickey, DDS, to undergo remedial training after allegedly practicing dentistry in a manner harmful to the public.

The Iowa Dental Board sanctioned Chad Lensch, DDS, in February for allegedly failing to detect cancer in a patient’s mouth.

Maine

The Maine Board of Dental Practice censored the license of Marc Horowitz, DDS, for violating standards of care between 2023 and 2024. 

North Carolina

William Linger, DDS, a dentist in Charlotte, N.C., surrendered his sedation permit after failing to address safety concerns or fix violations related to sedation.

The North Carolina Board of Dental Examiners denied the license reinstatement of a dentist who it claims is responsible for a patient’s death. 

Washington

The Washington Dental Quality Assurance Commission indefinitely suspended the credential to practice in the state of Joseph Zimmer, DDS.

The Washington Dental Quality Assurance Commission indefinitely suspended the license of Paul Choi, DMD.

The Washington Dental Quality Assurance Commission denied the license of Edward Liu, DDS.
