The American Dental Association is urging members of Congress to oppose a provision in a recently advanced tax bill that would harm dentists, according to a May 16 news release from the ADA.
Here are four notes for dentists:
- The House Ways and Means Committee advanced a tax bill that includes a provision to get rid of federal deductibility for state-level pass-through entity taxes by certain professions, including dentists.
- Dentists who own or are partners in practices structured as S corporations or partnerships would be subject to tax increases.
- About 30% of dentists across the U.S. would be negatively impacted by the provision.
- According to the ADA, the provision could jeopardize the reinvestment into dental staffing, technology and patient care.
