A surge in unlicensed dentistry cases across multiple states is raising concerns about patient safety and the growing burden on licensed dental providers. 

Here are six updates on six recent cases of unlicensed dentistry, as reported by Becker’s since Feb. 17:

  1. A Florida woman is facing several charges after allegedly operating an illegal dental clinic outside of her home.
  2. Two Illinois residents were charged with practicing dentistry without a license after allegedly performing dental procedures. 
  3. A Texas man was arrested for allegedly practicing dentistry without a license.
  4. A woman in Old Bridge, N.J., was charged with practicing dentistry without a license.
  5. A Massachusetts man was found guilty of several charges related to the practice of illegal dentistry.
  6. A woman in North Carolina was arrested and charged with practicing orthodontics without a license.
