Homayoun Zadeh, DDS, an associate professor placed on leave at Los Angeles-based University of Southern California, was accused of paying William “Rick” Singer $100,000 to help get his daughter into USC. He was initially charged with fraud and conspiracy, and in April 2019, he also was charged with money-laundering, to which he pleaded not guilty. In October 2019, he was charged with conspiracy to commit federal program bribery.
Dr. Zadeh, who is the 31st parent to plead guilty in the case, agreed to six weeks in prison, one year of supervised release and a $20,000 fine. The sentence and guilty plea, announced July 1, will end the case against him once it is approved by a judge.
