California man accused of running illegal dental practice out of his home

A Hesperia, Calif., man has been charged with illegally operating a dental practice out of his home, according to a March 6 report from Victorville Daily Press.

On March 6, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at Uriel Cortes’ home, where investigators recovered evidence of Cortes practicing dentistry including a fully outfitted dental chair, according to the Daily Press.  

Mr. Cortes has been charged with prescribing a controlled substance without treatment, furnishing controlled substances, forging or altering a prescription, unauthorized practice and practicing dentistry without a valid license, according to a statement from the sheriff’s department. 

Officials began investigating Mr. Cortes for illegal dentistry in January. 

Mr. Cortes was not taken into custody, the report said.
