Medi-Cal’s dental program will now cover fluoride treatment once every four months for patients under the age of 6 as a benefit, aligning with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s guidelines.

Dentists can also receive reimbursement for tobacco counseling. They are also recommended to refer patients to case managers for additional healthcare needs.

Other changes include extended reimbursement for treating patients with special needs. Additionally, the program will coverlab-processed crowns for children.
