Sharon Stewart, 55, was arrested Feb. 7 on charges of stabbing Katie Tran, DDS, and attacking two others at a dental office in New Orleans.

A GoFundMe page states that Dr. Tran was stabbed by a patient she was treating.

Mason Liles, DDS, a friend and former classmate of Dr. Tran, set up the GoFundMe page to support Dr. Tran. He said the funds will be used to support Dr. Tran financially while she is out of work after undergoing hand surgery. The funds will also support Dr. Tran’s case against the suspect.

More than $87,000 was raised from more than 1,000 donations as of Feb. 12.
