Dentists’ optimism toward US economy trending upwards

Dentists’ confidence in the state of the U.S. economy has trended upwards since early 2023, according to a report from the American Dental Association’s Health Policy Institute.

The ADA recently released its “Economic Outlook and Emerging Issues in Dentistry” report for the first quarter of 2024.

Data shows that a little more than 20% of dentists reported being “very” or “somewhat” confident in the U.S. economy in March 2023. The percentage increased to 39% for March 2024.

Here are dentists’ confidence levels for the dental industry and the U.S. economy overall for March 2024:

Very confident: 28.4%

Somewhat confident: 36.6%

Neither confident nor skeptical: 17.8%

Somewhat skeptical: 11.8%

Very skeptical: 5.4%

Very confident: 17.7%

Somewhat confident: 40.5%

Neither confident nor skeptical: 20.8%

Somewhat skeptical: 15.9%

Very skeptical: 5.1%

The U.S. economy 

Very confident: 8.3%

Somewhat confident: 30.9%

Neither confident nor skeptical: 18%

Somewhat skeptical: 27.8%
