Dentsply Sirona taps Donald Casey Jr. as permanent CEO: 5 things to know

Dentsply Sirona elected Donald Casey Jr. to serve as CEO, effective Feb. 12. He succeeds Mark Thierer, who has served as interim CEO since Sept. 28, 2017.

Here are five things to know:

1. Mr. Casey comes to Dentsply Sirnoa with more than 30 years of global healthcare experience. He most recently served as CEO of Cardinal Health’s medical segment.

2. Prior to that, Mr. Casey served as CEO of the Gary and Mary West Wireless Health Institute, a nonprofit focused on lowering the cost of healthcare.

3. Mr. Casey also served as the worldwide chairman for Johnson & Johnson’s comprehensive care group, overseeing its cardiovascular, diagnostic, diabetes and vision care franchises around the world.

4. Mr. Casey serves on the boards of AdvaMed and the James Foundation. He previously served on Surgical Specialties and West Corp’s boards.

5. Mr. Thierer will continue to serve as interim CEO through Feb. 11 and will work closely with Mr. Casey to ensure a smooth transition.
