How insurance reimbursement for owners has changed over the past year

More than 40 percent of dental practice owners reported that insurance reimbursement from all companies has stayed the same over the past 12 months, according to a recent poll from the American Dental Association’s Health Policy Institute.

The ADA’s monthly “Economic Outlook and Emerging Issues in Dentistry” poll asked owners to share how insurance reimbursements have fluctuated over the past 12 months at their practice.

Here is how the respondents answered:

Up by at least 1 percent: 11 percent

Stayed the same: 46 percent

Down by 1 to 5 percent: 13 percent

Down by 6 to 10 percent: 12 percent

Down by more than 10 percent: 9 percent

Does not participate in an insurance plan: 10 percent
