The dental society said physicians’ offices have been called in an attempt to extort money or steal personal information. There has been an uptick in phone calls to dental society offices and throughout the state, the dental society said.

The warning comes after an Oct. 6 ABC7 report about similar calls made to Chicago physician offices. The DEA uploaded a YouTube video warning of phone scams in March.

In February, the Illinois Board of Dentistry warned dentists of a telephone scam in which callers pretend to be from the dental board and demand money.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
