In February, Dr. Kim pleaded guilty to three counts of healthcare fraud after local regulators investigated claims data showing he had performed more cavity fillings and tooth extractions than any other dentists in the state.
Court documents reveal that Dr. Kim had submitted false claims for more than 1,300 patients from August 2014 to December 2017, often claiming he performed eight or more cavity fillings a day.
Dr. Kim agreed to have his license to practice dentistry in Illinois revoked as part of his April plea agreement. He also has already paid his restitution, which amounted to $671,845.20, to Illinois Medicaid and Medicaid managed care organizations.
