Aldrich Pediatric Dentistry in Indianapolis recently suffered a data breach affecting 5,900 individuals.
The practice became aware on Feb. 24 that an employee’s email account was compromised in a phishing attack that took place more than a month prior, according to a notice on the practice’s website. The email account contained various patient information, including names, addresses, emails, telephone numbers, dates of service, procedures and insurance information.
The practice said it does not have any evidence that the attacker accessed the patient information. There is also no indication that the patient information has been used inappropriately.
The incident was submitted to the HHS Department’s Office of Civil Rights breach portal April 24.
