Between 2012 to 2017, when Dr. Hedin operated Downtown Dental Care of Duluth, Minn., he failed to pay thousands of dollars in payroll taxes and withheld thousands of dollars from employees’ paychecks. Although the clinic has changed ownership, Dr. Hedin has continued to practice dentistry at the dental office.
Dr. Hedin will not be able to practice until the board dismisses the complaint, enters into a corrective action agreement with Dr. Hedin or issues an order following a contested case proceeding. Dr. Hedin signed the letter of stipulation Oct. 31.
Dr. Hedin’s sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 20, 2020. He faces up to five years in prison, a fine up to $250,000, or twice the monetary gain he received and the required repayment of any prosecution expenses from the case.
