Missouri hospital closes, plans to reopen as dental & urgent care clinic: 3 points

Doniphan, Mo.-based Ripley Country Memorial Hospital will cease operations Oct. 15, according to Missourinet.

Here are three points:

1. Ellington-based Missouri Highlands Health Care plans to convert the hospital’s emergency department into an urgent care clinic.

2. Additionally, the nonprofit plans to open a fulltime dental clinic in place of the hospital as well as behavioral health and substance abuse treatment programs.

3. This is the fifth hospital in Missouri to close since 2010. A hospital official said Ripley Country Memorial saw two patients daily, causing significant financial burdens.
