Here are five things to know:
1. Dr. Tratenberg practices in Springfield, N.J., and will repay Medicaid in seven installments through April 2018, according to a settlement reached between Dr. Tratenberg and the state comptroller’s office.
2. In a statement, State Comptroller Philip James Degnan said, “The Medicaid program will be reimbursed for claims that were improperly submitted for payment and protected going forward through the terms of the Corrective Action Plan being put in place.”
3. The settlement says the dentists allegedly double billed for certain claims. It also alleges Dr. Tratenberg billed Medicaid for making multiple trips to the same facility; however, Union News Daily reports Dr. Tratenberg saw multiple patients at that facility during one trip.
4. The settlement states Dr. Tratenberg will correct his documentation as well as his claims-business practices to avoid such improper billing practices moving forward.
5. Dr. Tratenberg did not provide a comment to Union News Daily.
