Dr. McMahon, operator of both McMahon Family Dentistry and J. McMahon Properties, hired Mary Ann Fuina, 80, in 2006 to provide bookkeeping services for the dentistry practice, along with his personal and other business accounts. Ms. Fuina provided the services through her company Billing Electronic Systems Technology.
Ms. Fuina began periodically withdrawing money from the accounts in early 2017, the lawsuit alleges, but also made some attempts to replenish the funds she previously took. Dr. McMahon said Ms. Fuina admitted to the fraud. The former bookkeeper claimed the money was a loan she always intended to repay, Times Union reports.
Ms. Fuina also overcharged Dr. McMahon for her services and assumed responsibility of a $100,000 loan he gave her sister, according to the complaint.
Dr. McMahon is seeking damages, interest and attorney’s fees.
