Northeast Ohio Medical University dental school welcomes inaugural class

Cleveland-based Northeast Ohio Medical University celebrated the opening of its Bitonte College of Dentistry by welcoming its inaugural class of 52 students. 

The Bitonte College of Dentistry is the fourth dental college in Ohio and the first public dentistry school in Northeast Ohio, according to an Aug. 22 news release from the university. 

The dental school received initial accreditation from the Commission on Dental Accreditation in September 2024 and offers a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

Of the 52 students in the inaugural class, 32 are from Ohio, the release said. 

Sorin Teich, DMD, will serve as the dental school’s inaugural dean.
