Pennsylvania dentist sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting patients

A Pennsylvania dentist was recently sentenced to up to 23 months in prison for sexually assaulting patients, ABC affiliate WNEP reported Jan. 11.

Scott Parkinson, DMD, was charged with indecent assault, indecent exposure and sexual extortion Aug. 2. While investigating claims that Dr. Parkinson inappropriately touched a woman in his office and exposed himself, authorities discovered that a former patient reported the dentist for sexual assault in 2017.

Dr. Parkinson pleaded no contest to sexual assault charges in December.

In addition to his prison sentence, Dr. Parkinson will also serve a year of probation.
