Here are five updates on the oral surgery field since May 12:

1. The University of Buffalo (N.Y.) School of Dental Medicine plans to end its oral and maxillofacial surgery advanced residency program at the end of the academic year.

2. Stafford (Va.) Oral Surgery experienced a data breach affecting 7,019 individuals.

3. Northern Virginia Oral Surgery Centers opened its sixth practice in Alexandria, Va. 

4. Nearly one in 10 surgeons leave active clinical practice within eight years, and the rate is much higher for oral and maxillofacial surgeons, according to a new study from the American College of Surgeons.

5. Irving, Texas-based U.S. Oral Surgery Management partnered with Hudson Valley Oral Surgery in New York.
