The new organization will be named the American Academy of Prosthodontic Dentistry and will be open to licensed dentists, researchers or dental laboratory technicians actively engaged in prosthetic dentistry and to full-time students enrolled in a CODA-accredited program, according to a Sept. 9 news release.
The boards of both organizations have approved the merger, which is subject to membership approval.
By consolidating, members of the AAFP and APS will have access to the benefits of both groups.
The membership vote is expected to take place in February 2025, the release said.
