Status of Medicaid enrollment, by dental specialty

Some dental practices have disenrolled from Medicaid since the pandemic began, according to an American Dental Association economic impact survey for Feb. 15-18.

Survey respondents were asked, “Has your practice disenrolled from Medicaid since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic?”

Below are the percentage of respondents who said “yes” by specialty, from greatest to least:

Endodontist: 33.3 percent
General practice: 11.6 percent
Dental surgical specialist: 4.75 percent
Pediatric dentist: 3.8 percent
Orthodontist: 0 percent
Prosthodontist: 0 percent
