On Dec. 11, 2024, the practice learned that an employee had a laptop stolen from their vehicle that had certain patients’ information stored, according to a Feb. 14 news release.
Upon discovering the incident, Park Place Pediatric Dentistry engaged with third-party cybersecurity experts and law enforcement.
Information on the laptop that may have been exposed to an unauthorized party includes names, patient account numbers, dates of birth, dates of service, medical treatment records and financial information related to treatment.
The practice has not received an indication that the laptop has been powered on or connected to a network. If the device ever does connect to a network, it will receive an automatic system wipe command.
The investigation did not find any instances of fraud or identify theft related to the incident, the release said.
Park Place Pediatric Dentistry has locations in Arlington and Hurst, Texas.
