To open the dental school, Texas Tech is seeking funding from the Texas legislature. The university also received $31 million in grants from the Hunt Foundation and Paso Del Norte Foundation.
The first class of dental students is anticipated to be admitted in 2021.
“To have all these students to go through the dental school, it would definitely bring in more offices, and more doctors to the area,” Paul Ro, DDS, told KTSM. “It would also be great for patients that maybe don’t have benefits or need something a little bit more cost effective.”
