University of Pikeville acquires newspaper building for upcoming dental school

The University of Pikeville (Ky.) recently purchased a building from Appalachian Newspapers to house its upcoming dental school, CBS affiliate WYMT reported Feb. 21.

The 40,000-square-foot facility houses the Appalachian News-Express and its printing presses. 

The university was given $25 million to establish the dental school in May 2022. Pamela Sparks-Stein, DMD, was appointed dean in September. 

Classes at the new dental school are scheduled to begin in the summer of 2025.
