Morristown, Vt.-based Lamoille Health Partners recently avoided the eviction of its dental clinic by catching up on late payments after the nonprofit’s landlord accused it of breaching its lease contract, News & Citizen reported April 24.
Savoy-Texas, LLC, which owns the building occupied by the dental clinic, alleged in court documents that Lamoille Health Partners owed $50,000 in lease payments.
Lamoille Health Partners Interim CEO Susan Bartlett told News & Citizen that the organization failed to make its payments because of a lack of funds. Peter Anderson, chair of the nonprofit’s board of directors, told News & Citizen that the organization caught up on its payments just prior to the court filing and that the lawsuit was being withdrawn.
Ms. Bartlett added that the nonprofit is now looking to consolidate its dental services as the organization undergoes a $2 million cost-cutting initiative. The organization is also considering merging with Copley Hospital in Morrisville, Vt.
The dental clinic is one of a few offices in the Lamoille County area that accepts Medicaid for adults. The clinic currently has a months-long waitlist for new patients.
