Here are 23 dental cybersecurity incidents Becker’s has reported on so far this year:
1. Tampa Bay Dental Implants & Periodontics in St. Petersburg, Fla., experienced a ransomware incident that affected its internal server containing backups of electronic medical records. The breach affected 6,400 individuals.
2. Jenks, Okla.-based Lumio Dental suffered a data breach affecting 500 individuals. The Nitrogen ransomware group claimed responsibility for the attack on the dark web in February.
3. Kirkland, Wash.-based Totem Lake Family Dentistry experienced a data security incident in June. An investigation determined that some of the practice’s files, including those that contained protected health information, may have been accessed by an unauthorized individual.
4. Verber Dental Group, which has 14 locations in Pennsylvania, identified unusual activity within its network Jan. 27. An investigation determined that certain data may have been accessed or acquired without authorization, including names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, medical information and health insurance information.
5. Anacortes, Wash.-based Bayside Dental was alerted to unauthorized access to its network on or around Jan. 5. A ransomware group named Sinobi claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it obtained 580 gigabytes of data, including customer information, contracts and incident records.
6. Tieu Dental Corporation, which has locations in Campbell and Morgan Hill, Calif., said an unauthorized actor accessed its network between July 28 and July 29, and may have also acquired files containing protected health information.
7. Issaqueena Pediatric Dentistry experienced a ransomware attack affecting 501 individuals. An unauthorized actor gained access to certain files within its systems between Nov. 9 and 11. An investigation determined that the unauthorized actor accessed certain files.
8. Grand Prairie, Texas-based Pecan Tree Dental experienced a data breach affecting 13,300 individuals.
9. 360 Dental in Philadelphia experienced a computer security incident affecting 11,273 individuals. On Nov. 16, 2025, the practice identified an authorized party had accessed its internal computer system and locked certain files, which may have exposed information stored on the server.
10. San Antonio-based 7 to 7 Dental & Orthodontics, a 12-location practice, experienced a data breach affecting 3,526 individuals.
11. Between June 10 and July 22, an unknown actor obtained unauthorized access to Park Dental’s network in Roanoke, Va. The affected environment included access to information maintained in office email and Park Dental’s patient record and practice-management systems.
12. Hawaii Family Dental, a 12-office practice, disclosed a data security incident in which an unauthorized individual used a compromised account to access patient information. A total of 45,853 individuals were affected by the breach.
13. eAssist notified customers Sept. 8 that it is investigating a potential information security incident. DireWolf, a hacker group, reportedly listed eAssist on its extortion site and claimed access to the company’s internal systems.
14. Roseville, Minn.-based Park Dental Partners identified unauthorized access to its computer network Aug. 28. The DSO is working to determine the nature and scope of the breach, including whether patient or protected health information was accessed.
15. James Standring, DDS, a dental practice in Crescent City, Calif., experienced a data breach that may have affected the information of 6,658 individuals.
16. Hot Springs-based Arkansas Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons experienced a data breach in April that may have impacted patient information.
17. Soniva Dental Care, a 14-location DSO based in San Antonio, disclosed a cybersecurity incident affecting up to 30,000 patients across several of its offices.
18. Cure Dental in Belton, Texas, suffered a data breach affecting more than 800 patients.
19. Dental implant manufacturer Park Dental Research Corporation suffered a ransomware attack that led to the exposure of sensitive information.
20. A cybersecurity incident at Stafford (Va.) Oral Surgery affected 7,019 individuals.
21. Garrisonville Dental in Stafford, Va., suffered a data breach affecting 5,204 individuals.
22. Bronsky Orthodontics, an orthodontic practice located in New York City, experienced a data incident impacting more than 3,000 individuals.
23. Aldrich Pediatric Dentistry in Indianapolis suffered a data breach affecting 5,900 individuals.
