A woman in Virginia Beach, Va., has been convicted of performing invasive dental treatments without a license, according to a July 15 report from ABC affiliate WVEC 13 News Now.
Cristina Valencia, who does not hold a dental license, operated Cosmetica Dental Lab. During a November 2021 search, police seized syringes, dental drilling equipment and patients’ dental records.
A mistrial was declared in March 2026 after a juror admitted to searching for information about the case online.
The practice provided services including dental bridges, cleanings and cavity fillings. One patient had bridges installed multiple times that did not properly fit, and the teeth beneath the bridges began falling out.
Ms. Valencia was found guilty of four counts of performing invasive procedures without a license. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 4, the report said.
