New Mexico dentist arrested for unlicensed dentistry

William Gardner, DDS, was arrested a second time for practicing dentistry without a license, KOB4 reported Aug. 25.

An investigator told the news station that Mr. Gardner was allegedly providing dental services as recently as a couple weeks ago.

Mr. Gardner was previously accused of practicing unlicensed dentistry in January 2022.

The New Mexico Board of Dental Health Care revoked Mr. Gardner's dental license in 2019 after he was accused of submitting fraudulent claims to insurers and treating patients with a suspended license.

Mr. Gardner is also suing the City of Albuquerque for violating his civil rights by citing him for code issues at a building he owns, according to the news station. Additionally, he is suing the special prosecutor in his unlicensed dentistry case as well as his former lawyer.

A trial for the charges of practicing dentistry without a license is scheduled for November, the news station reported.
