Heartland Dental donated $11,550 to the Blackhawk Technical College Foundation to create the scholarship.
One student enrolled in the college’s dental hygiene program will be awarded $500 each year as part of the scholarship program.
Blackhawk Technical College launched its dental hygiene program in 2022 in response to oral healthcare workforce shortages. The college also entered a partnership with Heartland Dental that allows students to shadow hygienists for a day. Additionally, Heartland Dental team members visit the college to provide career development services such as mock interviews and resume-building seminars to graduating hygiene students.
