Farmington Hills, Mich.-based Smile America Partners, a DSO specializing in portable and mobile dentistry, has been acquired by Kaltroco, a private investment company.
Smile America Partners is the largest school-based mobile dental program in the U.S., and in 2025, the organization and its partner practices provided care to more than 8,000 schools across 20 states, according to a July 13 news release from Kaltroco.
The DSO’s existing leadership team, including CEO Steve Higginbotham, will continue to lead Smile America Partners.
The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
“Everything that has made Smile America Partners who we are remains at the center of our work: our mission, our team and our commitment to the children, families, schools and communities we serve,” Mr. Higginbotham said in the release. “Kaltroco understands the importance of that mission and shares our belief that every child deserves access to quality healthcare. Their support will help us build on our proven model and bring dental care directly to more children who need it.”
At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
