Dr. Howard Howell to retire from Harvard dental school after 45 years

Howard Howell, DDS, is retiring from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine after serving the school for more than 45 years.

Dr. Howell joined the Boston-based school in 1976 and served as a course director, led literature reviews, participated in national and international symposia and oversaw student teaching clinics, according to a news release from the university. He also served in many administrative leadership positions, including dean for dental education.

The school is naming the Lash-Williams-Howell-Stevens Fellowship scholarship after Dr. Howell in honor of his retirement and contributions to the school. The fund was established by Dr. Howell to provide financial support to dental residents, the release said.

Dr. Howell will retire at the end of January, according to a Jan. 29 LinkedIn post.
