U of Pittsburgh names Dr. Marnie Oakley as dean of dental school

Marnie Oakley, DMD, has been appointed as dean of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and president of University Dental Health Services.

Dr. Oakley has served as the dental school’s interim dean since September 2022, according to a news release from the university. 

As interim dean, Dr. Oakley helped the school reach nearly $9 million in clinical production in the 2023 fiscal year and created a paid dental assistant apprenticeship program. 

Dr. Oakley first joined the dental school in 1996 as a clinical instructor and has been with the school for nearly 30 years. 

The appointment was effective Oct. 1, the release said
