Max Surgical Specialty Management names 1st DEI clinical director

Hackensack, N.J.-based Max Surgical Specialty Management appointed Akeyla Brown, DDS, as the company’s first clinical director for diversity, equity and inclusion and community engagement.

Dr. Brown is an oral surgeon at Riverside Oral Surgery in Livingston, N.J., according to an Oct. 26 news release from Max Surgical Specialty Management. 

In the role, Dr. Brown will help make the oral and maxillofacial surgery space feel more inclusive and will aim to create a diverse support staff to leadership roles. 

Susan Coe, chief people officer of Max Surgical Specialty Management, will serve as a mentor to Dr. Brown, the release said.

The company, which launched in September, supports 16 offices and 25 surgeons in New Jersey.
