LSU Health appoints alumnus as dental school dean

New Orleans-based LSU Health has appointed John Gallo, DDS, dean of its School of Dentistry.

Dr. Gallo is one of five recently appointed deans as part of a structural update under LSU’s new strategic plan, according to an Aug. 6 news release.

Dr. Gallo graduated from the school in 1992 and has served as its associate dean of clinical affairs since 2014.

He is recognized as making significant contributions to the field through his research on adhesive dentistry and clinical education. He has also served as a member of several organizations, including the American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, New Orleans Dental Association, the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists.
